On the move...with his toilet!
One man is so impressed with his toilet, he even took it with him when he moved house.
halidomide Kevin Donnellon (52), has moved from a flat to a bungalow in Bundellsands, Crosby, to give him and his young family more space. Whereas most people, when they move, leave bathroom fittings behind, Kevin insisted one item that HAD to move too: his Closomat automatic (wash and dry) shower toilet.
"The bungalow will be a forever home, for me, my fiancee Angela and our daughter Daisy – and my Closomat! I just couldn't be without it," he says. It gives me so much independence and dignity. I have stunted arms so would not be able to clean myself after toileting. The Closomat does all that for me.
"And even better, this time I will have TWO toilets! The lady selling the property kindly let me organise to have a Closomat fitted in the cloakroom before we moved in. My existing one will go back to Closomat's factory in Manchester to be refurbished, and then will be installed in the bathroom when we refurbish it in the spring: it only needs a new pump and a couple of other small parts, which is amazing considering that I have had it over 20 years!"
The Closomat looks like, and can be used as, a conventional WC, and has in-built douching and drying. Simply retaining pressure on the flush pad triggers simultaneous flushing and warm water washing, followed by warm air drying. Thus the need for manual cleaning with toilet tissue, and hand: body contact, is eliminated, improving hygiene, cleanliness, and the user's dignity and independence.
Adds Kevin, "The Closomat has been a godsend. It gives me back my dignity as I don't need someone to help me when I go to the toilet, and it gives me the confidence that I am properly clean- if you are reliant on a carer, you are never sure if they have cleaned you as well as you would like: it's not pleasant for you or them."
Closomat is the first choice for disabled people and their carers, to deliver quality, easy to use toileting solutions that bring greater independence, dignity and hygiene.Mark Sadler Sales Director
